:: Jaintia to be rediscovered in tourism festival ::

[TST] : The Jaintia Tourism and Environment Society in collaboration with the district administration along with other organising partners will organize the Discover Jaintia – a tourism festival from 7 to 12 December in various places in the District.
The JTES had convened a meeting with all its organising partners at Tympang Club Hall in which the program to be taken by each partner was finalized.
It may be recalled that Discover Jaintia was organized for the first time in 2006 under the initiative of the district administration subsequently.
The festival was handed over to the JTES- a tourism society in the district, and there onwards the event is organised every year.
This year, various organisations from different parts of Jaintia Hills are entrusted to organize the program in their respective area.
The week-long festival will include a road show from Shillong to Jowai and the Jaintia carnival from Ladthadlaboh to Jri-salein.
An exhibition and the all-faith choir will also be a part of the inaugural function on December 7 at Jri-salein playground.
The Society for Rural Development will organise the Eastern Jaintia Festival at Khliehriat to be followed by the evening show at Jowai on December 8.
Nartiang- the historical village in the District will host a Monolith festival to be organized by the Dorbar shnong of Nartiang and followed by the great Jaintia comedy show which will be organized by the Jaintia Students’ Union on December 9.
The War Jaintia Festival will be organized at Amlarem and Jarain village by the Sohkha Shnong music Club and the Dorbar shnong of Jarain respectively on December 10.
On December 11, the Syntu-ksiar festival will be organized jointly by the Jaintia Fishing and Environment Protection Association and the Kiang Nangbah Iasiat Khnam Memorial Association.
The Syntu Ksiar festival will include angling, archery and so on.
Later in the evening, the Ialong Tourism Promotion Society will present the Ialong Park festival which will include cultural programs and in the evening a Thousand Lights will be lighted to illuminate the picturesque Ialong Eco-park.
During the festival, a photo exhibition showing of various tourist spots of Jaintia Hills also will be organised by the Saralyne Socio-Sultural Sports Club.
The Discover Jaintia will be culminated on December 12 with a colourful closing ceremony.
