:: State to have mobile breast cancer detection unit ::

SHILLONG [TST] : The Director (Operations) India of Roko Cancer Charitable Trust Isha Bhandari on Wednesday met the Chief Minister DD Lapang.
She informed Mr Lapang of the first ever fully equipped mobile breast cancer detection unit that is being launched by the Trust to create awareness among the people about breast cancer and how to prevent it by early detection.
The Meghalaya Government would soon sign a MoU with the Roko Cancer Charitable Trust for entering into a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Roko Cancer Charitable Trust in coordination with the State Health Department will launch the Breast Cancer Screening unit on February 12 in Shillong. Similar programme will be held in Tura.
Roko Cancer Trust so far has covered eight states --- Punjab, Delhi, UP, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,
Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa.
It may be mentioned that Roko Cancer Charitable Trust is UK-registered institute. The Trust provides free mammography and ultrasound to the women in the detection camps with results on the spot, through its mobile units. Patients would be educated on breast, cervix and oral cancer by imparting lectures and awareness talk.
